Executive Summary

A large multi-national pharmaceutical company were going through a large-scale restructure and wanted to upskill managers and leaders in how to lead their teams through the changes. They are a very dispersed, mostly field-based, team so a virtual solution was delivered with great impact.

The Brief

A high impact, engaging 2 hour virtual programme which created a safe environment for participants to share their experiences and views.

The Solution

The design process was very much a partnership approach, with discussions with the sponsor and local leaders taking place to determine what the learning outcomes were and which content should therefore be included. We designed a 2 hour interactive, live, virtual workshop to be delivered in cohorts of up to 15 people over 6 sessions.

The workshop content included:

  • Articulating the reasons why the transformation was taking place to their teams
  • The threats to motivation during times of change
  • The emotional impacts of change on both them as managers and their teams, and how to minimise them

The workshops were designed to be as interactive as possible, using all the features of our virtual classroom software such as chat, polls, whiteboards and breakout rooms for exercises.

The Results

We delivered 6 workshops to 40 leaders over a 2 week period and the response was excellent. The workshops scored an impressive 8.5 out of 10 with comments like:

“Great open forum, very well run. Great facilitators!”

“Very relevant content, well presented using fantastic technology.”

“Interaction was excellent. Liked the format and liked the open and honest approach we were encouraged to take. A good way to ensure consistency across the business in the way we approach leading our teams.”

We also saw an immediate uplift in confidence to lead the transformation after the workshops with 68% of participants saying they felt very confident afterwards compared to only 17% before.

“I wanted to thank you again for delivering the series of ‘Leading through Change’ virtual workshops for our 1st and 2nd line managers. Although all of them are well versed with change, these superbly facilitated sessions refreshed on the change curve as well as introduce a new model. The feedback has been excellent with an average rating of 8.5/10 as better equipped to lead through change. The main reasons for the high rating was content, virtual technology, facilitation and most of all protected time to think and reflect with their peers. I also wanted to thank you for your flexibility and communication – it is a pleasure working with you.”
